CONTEMPLATIONS: Kaija Saariaho/Jean-Baptiste Barriere Solo Portrait Concert

Thrilled to be performing a solo multimedia portrait concert of Kaija Saariaho and Jean Baptiste Barriere (directed by Luca Veggetti) on Thursday, November 3rd, 7:30 pm at the New School’s Tishman Auditorium (info here).   Through the evocative works of these 2 masterful artists, this interdisciplinary show entitled Contemplations explores the fragility of life and finds that in often dark paths, a sense of hope and resilience can be found in the act of mindful perseverance.    Everyone is invited to this very special show —-and it is FREE!!!……hope to see you there!

More Feldman Fun!!!

I am extraordinarily honored to join the brilliant forces of pianist Aki Takahashi and percussionist David Shively in a performance of the recently discovered Cheap Imitation by Morton Feldman at Le Poisson Rouge 0n Tuesday, July 5, 6 pm in a program entitled CAGE, FELDMAN interprets CAGE, CAGE interprets SATIE.   Aki worked closely with both Cage and Feldman and her performances of their music should not be missed!!!  It is my great privilege to perform (and record!) this little known work by Feldman with her— this is a must-see show!!!  Info here….see you there!

KLANG!!!

The Metropolitan Museum and Analog Arts presents the US premiere of Stockhausen’s KLANG cycle!!  This massive, amazing work is being presented at The Met, The Cloisters and The Breuer Building.  My performances are:

Romanian Spectralism!!!

If a week of Romanian Spectral music is not on your bucket list, it should be!!!   Either/Or has set up shop at Columbia University’s Miller Theater to work with the legendary Iancu Dumistrescu — a visionary and sonic wizard who crafts music with  his sheer presence!    2 Pop-ups and a Portrait:

March 1, 6 PM  Parallels and Precursors
Music of Bartók, Enescu, Niculescu, and premieres from guest composers Ana-Maria Avram and Iancu Dumitrescu.  On-stage at Miller Theatre with beer and wine!

March 3, 6 PM – Ana-Maria Avram
New and recent chamber music from Ana-Maria Avram (including a gorgeous Bass Flute solo!!!).  On-stage at Miller Theatre with beer from Harlem Brewing Co.

March 5, 8 PM – Iancu Dumitrescu
Miller Theatre’s Composer Portraits and Either/Or present a rare US portrait concert of the legendary Iancu Dumitrescu.  Works ranging from soloist with electronics to large ensemble, including 2 World Premieres and 2 US Premieres.

Serenade for Harold – 10/20/15, 7:30 PM

Saturday, July 11—- 100 tappers getting our groove on in Times Square (Father Duffy Square at 46th st.) as the culmination of ATDF’s 2015 Tap City Festival.  Two 20 minute sets at 2 and 3 pm —Shuffle on by and say hello!!

Feldman in Philly!!

Either/Or heads to Philly for a performance of Feldman’s epic For Philip Guston on Sunday, April 26th, 3 PM.  Presented by Bowerbird at The Rotunda and it’s free!!

Feldman in Fullerton!

Either/Or travels to Fullerton, California for the 2015 CSUF New Music Festival where they will be joining Elliot Sharp, Laurie Rubin and many others.  On Sunday, March 1st, 2 – 7 PM in Meng Hall, we will bliss out once again performing Morton Feldman’s epic For Philip Guston…….if you are in SoCal, come on out!!

Lady M……

Saturday, December 6th, I am honored and beyond excited to premiere Lady M by my dear friend and long-time collaborator Milica Paranosic. The concert entitled Sweet Concordant Strings celebrates the 450th anniversary of Shakespeare’s birth and is part of the Composers Concordance annual festival.  Lady M, a mini-concerto/drama for flute and strings, explores the tragic trajectory of the Scottish play’s heroine.
